Cookie Policy

How Kenyan Oregon Network uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you control them.

Consent configuration version 1. This policy describes the technologies actually in use on KON today. If we introduce new analytics or advertising technologies, we update this page and ask for your choice again where required.

What these technologies are

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include browser local storage and session storage, which save information on your device in the same way. KON uses both.

Why KON uses them

Some are unavoidable: without them you could not sign in, stay signed in, or use account and admin features safely. Others are optional and only used with your permission — to remember convenience settings, to understand how the community uses the portal, or to measure advertising.

Strictly necessary technologies

These keep KON secure and working. They cannot be switched off, because sign-in, sessions and account security depend on them.

Functional technologies (optional)

These remember choices you make so the portal behaves the way you left it. If you reject optional technologies, KON still works — it just will not remember these preferences.

Analytics technologies (optional)

No analytics technology is currently active on KON. Aggregate counts we keep for platform operation are recorded in our own database and are not shared with analytics providers. If we enable an analytics provider such as Google Analytics 4, it will only load where your consent permits it, and this table will list it.

Advertising and marketing technologies (optional)

KON sells advertising placements, including featured businesses, sponsored posts and homepage advertising. Today advertising is measured using first-party counts recorded in our own database — impressions and clicks, without cross-site tracking or personalised advertising identifiers. No advertising or remarketing pixel is currently active. If we add one, it will load only where your advertising consent permits it and it will be listed here.

Third-party services

Sign-in is handled through our backend provider and, if you choose it, Google. Content images are served from our own storage. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. Any future analytics or advertising provider is listed in the tables above.

How you manage your preferences

Your current choice: no choice recorded yet. You can change or withdraw optional consent at any time, and rejecting is as easy as accepting.

The same link is always available in the footer of every page. When you withdraw optional consent, we stop loading and using the affected optional technologies going forward.

Browser-level controls

Your browser can also block or delete cookies and site data through its privacy settings — in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge this is usually under Privacy and Security. Blocking all cookies and site data will sign you out of KON and prevent sign-in, because authentication depends on them.
