A few habits that prevent almost every problem we see.
Buying and selling
- • Meet in a busy public place during daylight; bring someone with you.
- • Inspect the item before paying and pay in person.
- • Never wire money, send gift cards, or share bank or card details.
- • Be cautious with any buyer who offers to overpay.
Hiring and job seeking
- • Legitimate employers never charge a fee to apply or to be hired.
- • Verify the employer's phone number and address independently.
- • Don't share your Social Security number or documents before an offer.
Hiring a business
- • Prefer verified profiles and check reviews across time, not just the newest.
- • Ask for licensing and insurance where the trade requires it.
- • Get a written estimate before work starts.
If something goes wrong
- • Use the Report button on any listing, post, review or profile.
- • Contact us with details and screenshots so moderators can act.
- • For crimes, threats or immediate danger, contact local law enforcement first.
